Environment

Due to large scale construction activities & immigration from the city the environmental status has changed drastically resulting in pollution. One of the main liabilities has been inability to support maintenance of greenery. Programmes were held in various sensitive area whereby ponds were deepen to increase water storage capacity similarly roof water harvesting programme were conducted with the same objective. Special mention must be made of Construction of Check Dams at Gangangaon & Bahare etc.

Livelihood

VJT promotes livelihood projects in Dahanu, Talasari and Vada taluka like animal husbandary -poultry, goat-rearing, fish farming.The beneficiaries in these projects include men & women. A team of farmers have been trained on various grafting techniques and they have been going around Vasai and other Parts off Thane, for grafting which has become a sources of livelihood.

S.H.G.

In the diocese we have more than 500 SHGs doing significant work. An SHG Training was held on the 31st January, 2013 at Adivasi Jeevan Vikas Kendra, The training started at 10 a.m. and was attended by 31 office bearers from different Hamlets. The women were trained on gaining independence as a means of sustainability, by enabling them, through inputs, on how to conduct SHG Meetings, maintain SHG Accounts, working out plans for the various activities undertaken by the SHGs, Report Writing Skills and the Role of the SHG’s President, Secretary and Treasurer.

Training

Training on Gram Sabha & Govt. Schemes was held on Friday 14th August 2015 at 11.00 am to 3.00 pm at Adivasi Jeevan Vikas Kendra. 12 farmers were present for this seminar. From the Krushi Department Mr. was present as the resource person. He shared his experiences of Gram Sabha & Govt. Schemes. Such as krushi Vima, The power of Garm Sabha in Grampanchayat level. Mr. Kisan explained the importance of being organized in our work and life. Farmers were also trained on certain Leadership skills.

Agriculture

Monthly Farmer club meetings were held at various locations. The meetings had good participation from the farmers and were guided by experts of Vasai Janhit trust. Information on proper farming and cultivation was shared with the farmers. Importance and role of the farmers club in improving the livelihood and employment was discussed. In Chalni ( Dahanu Taluka ) Village our animator visited and discussed on sustainable development. The Adivasi 5 farmers said that they want to cultivate Tomato commonly .Mr. Vasant the animator gave direction on how to do so . They took loan from Bank of Maharashtra about 65,000/-.They invest and total 1,500 tomato plants cultivated. At the end farmers asked that approximately they have 600,000/- as income. At the beginning situation of the Chalni village was not conducive most of them would migrate to Khanveli or Thane for livelihood. Now all the family members work together in their farm .

Networking

VJT formed core committee for networking and advocacy VJT organized several training session for capacity building of the NGOs.36 NGos working for the Children's came together under the banner of VJT known as Bal Vikas Sangh for interaction,development and linkage with Govt. VJT's Committee addressed the issue of registration with CWC And regular follow up was done for the registration as well as other Concern.
